We are proud to announce our first Law School Exploration Workshop for Community College Students as part of the DiscoverLaw.org initiative of the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC). This event is designed for community college students or first-generation college students in their first or second year of college, who are interested in exploring law school.
The workshop will begin with a student led tour of the law school followed by a mock class hosted by Professor Jody Armour, one of our leading law scholars. Professor Armour will guide participants through a relevant criminal law case and demonstrate how to examine basic legal concepts. Students are required to review the case ahead of time in order to actively engage in classroom conversation and to experience the Socratic Method.
The workshop will then provide lunch with current law students in a casual setting to help foster conversation about the life and experience of a law student. Next, through the Toolbox for Success Panel, participants will hear from an undergraduate admissions representative, law school admissions representative, a career counselor, and a law student community college success story. The panelists will share steps participants can take to navigate their journey to law school. Lastly, the program will conclude with a reflective writing exercise where students will identify potential barriers to law school and write their own J.D. action plan for success.
This event is open to community college students or first generation college students in their first or second year in college. RSVPs are required.
Please submit your RSVP by completing the form below. An email confirmation will be sent with further details.
On the day of your event, please check in 10 minutes before the event begins.
