Urgent Message for DACA Recipients at USC (Action required before 10/5/17)

On September 5, 2017, President Trump issued an order directing the Department of Homeland Security to terminate the DACA program. However, certain individuals who currently have DACA work permits will be allowed to apply for one more renewal of their DACA work permit.

If you are a USC student, employee, contract employee, or family member of a USC student, employee, or contract employee and your DACA work permit (Employment Authorization Document) expires on or after September 5, 2017 and on or before March 5, 2018, you should renew your DACA status as soon as possible.

You may contact a reputable lawyer or legal services organization, or you may contact the USC Immigration Clinic. The USC Immigration Clinic will help you with your renewal application. The deadline to apply for renewal is October 5, 2017, but you should act as soon as possible.

Financial assistance will be provided to USC students who need help paying some or all of the $495 renewal filing fee. Do not delay applying for renewal for financial reasons. Financial assistance will be provided to any undergraduate or graduate student who requires it.

For assistance with renewal filing, please complete this Google Form to provide preliminary information and to schedule an appointment. Or you may e-mail us at immclinic@law.usc.edu. When you email, please indicate the date on which your DACA work permit expires.

If your DACA work permit expired before September 5, 2017 or if it expires after March 5, 2018 and you have not already filed a renewal application with USCIS as of September 5th, you can no longer renew your DACA work permit. Your DACA work permit remains valid until the expiration date on the card.

If you have any questions, please contact us at immclinic@law.usc.edu for a free legal and confidential consultation.
