Laura Fry directs USC Gould's externship offerings and teaches externship classes. She graduated from USC Gould in 1992, as the second recipient of the Irmas Fellowship in Public Interest Law. Before returning to USC in 2016, Fry worked at UC Irvine School of Law, where she directed the school’s externship program.

Prior to moving to academia, Fry practiced at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, where she specialized in family law. In 2008 she received Family Law Award for Direct Representation from the Legal Aid Association of California. During her years in legal services, Fry also advocated in the areas of government benefits, particularly on electronic access, employment and access to health care.

Fry has a master’s degree in music history from the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in music from the University of Maryland.

Edward Kleinbard was quoted on why the GOP's tax reform bill may not encourage more investment by corporations. The bill features “a very top-heavy distribution,” said Kleinbard. The markets “are awash in capital today, and there’s not a sign of needing more investment.”
