Our online application is now available. Note: applicants who are admitted to our graduate programs will receive an application fee waiver with their admissions letter. Therefore, if you have applied to our LL.M. or M.C.L. program, we recommend that you wait until you receive an admissions decision prior to applying to the SLE program.
The Summer Law & English Program application fee is $100. The application fee should be paid by credit card along with submission of the online SLE application.
If you are requesting housing for the SLE program, a separate $100 housing application fee is required. Please see Section 4 of the application for required housing fees.
If you have been admitted to and will enroll in the LL.M., M.C.L. or VIP programs at USC Gould School of Law, please follow the instructions included with your admissions packet to waive your $100 application fee.
All applications must be sent with a financial statement that certifies sufficient funds are available to meet both your living (housing, meals, etc.) and program expenses while at USC (unless you are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have been granted political asylum). Your financial statement must show a minimum of US$6,250. Applicants must also send a copy of their passport (photo page).
If you have already applied to our LL.M., M.C.L. or VIP programs, you are NOT required to resend financial support documentation and a passport copy.
USC Gould School of Law will supply I-20 forms for SLE students who are citizens of countries other than the United States. The I-20 form is the United States Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status for Academic and Language Students, which is needed to apply for the F-1 student visa. Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents MUST obtain a F-1 visa in order to attend the SLE program at USC Law. Students may NOT attend the SLE program on a B1/B2 visitor/tourist visa.
Along with your application materials, please submit a brief current resume or curriculum vitae via email. If you have already applied to our LL.M., M.C.L. or VIP programs, you are NOT required to resend your resume/CV.
A TOEFL or IELTS score is not required for SLE application, but if you have a score, we would appreciate your sending it by email as it will assist our English instructors in planning. If you have already applied to our LL.M., M.C.L. or VIP program, you are NOT required to resend your TOEFL or IELTS score.
The application deadline is May 1. Admission is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. We highly recommend that you apply early to avoid any difficulties with obtaining a visa due to time constraints. Upon admission, payment is due by June 1 in order to reserve a space in the program. No late applications or payments will be accepted.
