USC IP & Tech Law Society presents: Booking.com with Sarah M. Harris

Apr 14, 2021 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Please join the USC IP & Tech Law Society for a lively virtual discussion with Sarah M. Harris, partner at Williams and Connolly LLP, on the Booking.com case that she litigated last year. As current 2Ls may recall, the 2020 Write-On Competition topic for the Class of 2022 was the then-undecided issue – addressed in Booking.com – of whether the combination of a generic term with a top level domain name was trademarkable.

During the event, we will discuss the legal and policy rationales for the decision, along with implications of the decision on future trademark registrability. This event is an excellent opportunity to learn about a landmark Supreme Court ruling and the different stakeholders involved in the debate.
