USC Gould School of Law is offering two new online graduate certificates in Health Care Compliance and Financial Compliance designed for professionals looking to advance in these fields.

The certificates will be available this fall to both non-lawyers and lawyers interested in legal and compliance related aspects of health care or finance.

"The new certificates will certainly expand career opportunities for professionals pursuing health care and compliance-related issues in various employment settings," said Deborah Call, associate dean and chief programs officer of USC Gould's Graduate and International Programs.

Applications are accepted year-round.

USC Law is launching online certificates in Health Care Compliance and Financial Compliance. The new certificates are available in the fall to both non-lawyers and lawyers.

Coursework for the Health Care Compliance certificate includes: Health Care Compliance, Health Care Law, Business & Finance, Health Law and Policy, Regulatory Compliance, and Patient Privacy Law. Coursework for the Financial Compliance certificate includes: Business Organizations, Contract Drafting, Corporate Governance, Financial Institution Regulation, Global Regulatory Compliance, and Regulatory Compliance. Students may select from these and other of the 26 online courses that are available through USC Gould's programs.

Jean E. Sprengel, MD, is seeking the health care certificate to prepare for the "uncertain future of healthcare."

"All professions walk side-by-side with the law," Sprengel said. "I chose to complete a certificate in Health Care Compliance to better understand that interface and to creatively apply it directly to my everyday practice and the institutions in which I work."

MSL student Kevin Moe is seeking a certificate in Financial Compliance, and believes the program is ideal as he balances his job as a director within a bank and pursuing the certificate. "The curriculum will provide the legal skills and background I'm looking for in the banking profession, an ever-growing and evolving compliance arena," said Moe.

The certificates may be earned in as few as nine months, and may be taken individually or in conjunction with the LLM or MSL degree as a specialization. The new certificates add to USC Gould's other online graduate programs, including the Master of Studies in Law (MSL) degree, Master of Laws (LLM) degree, and graduate certificates in Business Law, Compliance, Entertainment Law & Industry, and Human Resources Law & Compliance.

USC Gould's online courses are delivered by many of the same accomplished faculty who earned the school a top-20 ranking among the U.S. News & World Report Best Law Schools. Online students have access to academic advising, student support, career development and bar exam preparation through the Graduate and International Programs Office.
