Information Privacy Law (Spring 2017)

Course Description

This course introduces and surveys the legal framework pertaining to information privacy in the United States, including the development of constitutional, tort, contract, property and statutory law to address emerging threats to privacy. Topics include the concept of privacy, privacy and the media, consumer data, behavioral advertising, identification and anonymization, financial privacy and government surveillance. Class discussion will include analysis of recent cases including those involving Hulu, Apple, Google, Snapchat, and others.
