Course Description

Sports Law and Representation LAW-879

This course – taught by a veteran sports agent and attorney – explores the legal, ethical, and business issues that arise in professional and amateur sports, with a focus on athlete and coach representation. Topics include contract negotiation, collective bargaining, antitrust law, NCAA compliance, NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) regulation, agency representation, labor relations, intellectual property, and dispute resolution in sports. Students will examine real-world scenarios and case studies from major leagues and governing bodies (NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA, FIFA, USOC, etc.).
