Awards & Notes

The third opera based on the journey of Professor Elyn Saks, titled The Center Cannot Hold Part 3: Beyond Recovery, was performed and livestreamed at UCLA in June. The opera is based on her widely acclaimed 2007 memoir — her journey through mental illness, her marriage, complications, and winning multiple awards at USC. Saks is the co-librettist of the opera.

Professor Nomi Stolzenberg received the 2026 James Boyd White Award from the Association for the Study of Law, Culture, and the Humanities. The award recognizes her wide-ranging contributions to law, religion, literature, legal history and culture.

Professor Bernadette Atuahene received Honorable Mention for the Law & Society Association’s Herbert Jacob Book Award for her book, Plundered: How Racist Policies Undermine Black Homeownership in America (Little, Brown & Company, 2025), in recognition of exceptional contributions to the understanding of law, society, and socio-legal processes.

Professor Jessica Clarke, a noted researcher in discrimination law, ranked among the nation’s 100 most-cited legal scholars. The 2025 analysis examined article citations over a three-year period.

Professor Robert Rasmussen was selected as one of the 500 Leading Global Bankruptcy and Restructuring Lawyers for 2026; his fifth consecutive year of earning this accolade from Lawdragon.

Professor Tom Lyon co-edited and contributed to the Handbook on Child Witnesses: Improving Psychological Science and Legal Practice, published by the American Psychological Association.
