Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of UC Irvine Law School, will speak at a lunchtime discussion Tuesday on recent and upcoming cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Sponsored by USC Law’s American Constitution Society, Chemerinsky will also discuss the Roberts Court, new U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and the future of constitutional law.

Chemerinsky, a member of the USC Law faculty for two decades, is a leading constitutional theorist and Supreme Court advocate.

“We are extremely fortunate that three of the nation's leading Supreme Court experts will be coming to campus to help us kick off our new student chapter of ACS,” said Prof. Rebecca Brown, who is ACS’s faculty advisor.

“With Dean Chemerinsky, we will hear a very engaging perspective on the Roberts Court and its newest Justice,” Brown said. “On Oct. 5, the ACS and the Federalist Society are sponsoring a preview of the Court's next term with Stanford Professor Pam Karlan and former Solicitor General Ted Olson. What an exciting way to introduce the American Constitution Society to the USC community.”

The event featuring Chemerinsky will take place on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in Room 1.

To RSVP to “U.S. Supreme Court: A Preview” at the University Club on Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m., please email events@law.usc.edu.
