On September 13, 2023, Interim Dean Franita Tolson announced the official launch of a fundraising initiative for the USC Gould School of Law's new building — signaling the start of an exciting new chapter in the law school's distinguished legacy.
Be part of this historic moment. Below, learn more about how you can get involved in shaping USC Gould’s future.
At USC Gould, we recognize that the law not only shapes all areas of society, but also touches every aspect of the workplace, no matter the industry or role. In response to the ever-evolving professional landscape, the Gould School has expanded its educational mission and experienced significant change and growth.
In addition to strengthening our flagship JD program, the law school has actively worked to establish new academic programs that broaden the knowledge of law for professionals across the country and around the world. From our LLM programs and specialized master’s degrees, to graduate certificates and our Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies, USC Gould is educating more students than ever before — helping prepare talented and diverse individuals, across fields and sectors, to achieve their career goals. Within that same time, the law school has also deepened its scholarly expertise, adding award-winning researchers and educators among our renowned faculty.
In this era of transformative growth, USC Gould is dedicated to transforming its physical facilities, to better serve its vibrant community and improve the learning experience for all.
Significantly expanding our physical space, the new six-level building provides USC Gould with four additional floors totaling 55,000 square feet, directly west of the current Musick Law Building, which will also continue to serve the students, faculty and staff. (The sixth floor will house offices and classrooms for the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; and the fifth floor is not yet assigned.) The new facility is primarily student-serving, with its interior devoted to classrooms, gathering spaces and functions that support and enhance the student learning experience. A signature main entrance and gathering place on the ground floor provide a welcoming gateway for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Building a Legacy Through Generous Giving
The law school shaped his career, and in return Richard Chernick (JD 1970) helped build a home for ADR at USC Gould and committed the largest gift in its history--committing $13 million to the law school building fund endowment.
