USC Law and SCORE Present Seminar for Small Business Owners, Wednesday, March 25

 
WHAT: USC Gould School of Law and SCORE, a division of the Small Business Administration, are hosting a seminar for small business owners and entrepreneurs.

WHO: Michael Chasalow, director of USC’s Small Business Clinic, and four of his top students, will discuss setting up legal structures that will protect business assets at start-ups and foster success as the business grows.

TOPICS: Chasalow and his students will address the following subjects:

-          Common myths and mistakes people make in setting up a business.
-          The difference between an LLC, a C–Corporation and an S-Corporation, and how to determine which one is right for your business.
-          Why not operate as a partnership or a sole proprietorship?
-          What are the issues that co-owners should address and resolve in a “Shareholders Agreement” before starting a business together?
-          How to protect your house and other assets if your business does not succeed.
-          What should you look for in an attorney, and what questions should you ask before hiring that person?

WHEN: Wednesday, March 25, from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

COST: Free for the media. For the public, cost is $15 or $20 at the door.
