Nikoo N. Berenji practices family law with a focus on high net worth divorces at Berenji & Associates in Beverly Hills, Calif. Prior to joining Berenji & Associates, she served as a deputy in the trial unit at the Office of the Federal Public Defender, as well as a trial attorney at the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office. She began her legal career as an associate attorney at Latham & Watkins.

Berenji received her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from UCLA, her MA from New York University and her JD from UC Berkeley, where she was awarded a full-tuition scholarship and received the S.K. Yee Fellowship Award, the American Jurisprudence Award in International Law and was a winner of the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Regional Championship. While in law school, she served as a federal judicial extern to the Honorable Judge S. James Otero.

"In light of the lower court disagreement, the U.S. Supreme Court is likely to take on this issue in the next few years," said Kerr.
