Brianna Howard
Brianna Howard, a lecturer in law for legal writing, is a litigator at Ballard Spahr LLP. Howard has nearly 10 years of experience litigating in state and federal courts across a variety of industries including life sciences, cosmetics, fashion, technology and financial services. She represents clients against consumer class actions and individual claims involving breach of contract, fraud, product defect, unfair competition, data privacy and intellectual property. She also maintains an active pro bono practice assisting children, asylum seekers and victims of domestic violence.
Howard is the co-author of Class/Collective Actions in the United States, published by the legal publishing company Practical Law, and had articles published in Forbes, TechCrunch and VentureBeat. Howard also serves as an editorial board member for Los Angeles County Bar Association’s magazine, Los Angeles Lawyer, an ambassador for California Minority Counsel Program, and holds various leadership positions in the ABA Section of Litigation and ABA Young Lawyers’ Division.
Howard earned her bachelor’s degree from University of California, Los Angeles and her JD from UC College of Law, San Francisco (formerly Hastings College of the Law). While in law school, Howard externed for the Honorable Saundra B. Armstrong in the Northern District of California. She also served as the executive editor of Hastings Women’s Law Journal (now Hastings Journal on Gender and the Law), board member for Black Law Students Association and a board member for Hastings Moot Court, during which time she was awarded National Champion, First Place Oralist, and Second Place Brief of the Cardozo/BMI Entertainment and Media Moot Court competition.
