Suma Mathai

Suma Mathai is a lecturer in law at the USC Gould School of Law, co-teaching Externship I and II. She is currently a legal consultant with the Judicial Council of California and other governmental organizations and nonprofits on issues affecting low-income families. Previously, she worked at several legal aid organizations in L.A., managing pro bono and family law programs and representing teens and immigrants in domestic violence and family law cases.

Mathai is a USC Gould alum and completed a joint JD and Master of Social Work at USC. After law school, she was awarded a two-year post-graduate fellowship (Equal Justice Works) and received the USC Barbara F. Bice Public Interest Law Foundation’s Public Interest Attorney of the Year in 2011.
