As a California attorney since 2005, Brent Peterson focused his practice on real estate, family law and financial contracts, while also handling personal injury and trust and estate matters. Drawing on his extensive background, he now mediates disputes in many of the same fields he has litigated. Since the Spring 2023 semester, he has been teaching negotiation techniques and theory to JD and LLM students at USC Gould School of Law, while providing hands-on practice and insight into effective dispute resolution.

Peterson received his BA in French Literature from the University of California, San Diego in 2000, followed by his JD from California Western School of Law in 2005. He later expanded his expertise in resolving and mediating conflict by earning an LLM in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the USC Gould School of Law in 2020. Peterson’s breadth of legal practice, combined with his advanced training in negotiation and mediation, positions him as a respected educator and conflict resolution specialist within the legal community.
