Charles T. Munger, vice chairman of holding company Berkshire Hathaway Inc. and Warren Buffett’s right-hand man, will offer his insight and intellect at the 2007 USC Gould School of Law commencement ceremony Sunday, May 13.
Munger, 83, is a graduate of Harvard Law School and founding partner of the Los Angeles law firm Munger, Tolles & Olson. He left the firm in 1965 to focus on his investments and became Berkshire Hathaway’s vice chairman in 1979.
In addition to his work with Berkshire Hathaway, Munger is CEO of Wesco Financial Corp., based in Pasadena, and chair of the Daily Journal Corporation. He serves on the USC Law Board of Councilors and is a renowned philanthropist: As president of the Alfred C. Munger Foundation, named for his father, Munger has donated millions of dollars to Los Angeles schools, libraries, museums, and other community and health care organizations.
Munger is highly respected for his financial insight and due diligence. His knowledge – in the form of “Mungerisms” – is the subject of his recent book, Poor Charlie’s Almanac: The wit and wisdom of Charles T. Munger, edited by Peter D. Kaufman.
