Recipients of the Hugh and Hazel Darling Scholarship were recognized at a Feb. 20 luncheon with Dean Robert K. Rasmussen and Richard Stack, sole trustee of the Hugh and Hazel Darling Foundation.
The Hugh and Hazel Darling Foundation was founded in 1988 and supports education in California, with an emphasis on brick-and-mortar projects. Through Stack, the foundation is a long-time and generous supporter of the USC Gould School of Law. In addition to its support of scholarships, the Darling Foundation made a $1 million gift to the library to facilitate a slate of technological enhancements.
Hugh Darling was a 1927 graduate of USC Law. He practiced law in Los Angeles for 58 years at his firm Darling, Hall & Rae. He was a nationally recognized expert on airline regulation and was instrumental in the success of Western Airlines, which merged with Delta in 1986. Stack is his former law partner.
