LOS ANGELES--Beginning fall 2021, the University of Southern California Gould School of Law will offer its existing Media and Entertainment Law certificate to on-campus students in the Master of Studies in Law (MSL) and Master of Dispute Resolution (MDR) degree programs.

Master’s students enrolled in USC Gould’s MSL and MDR degrees are non-lawyers who do not intend to practice law and are interested in gaining essential legal skills and knowledge to advance their careers in a wide variety of professions.

Tailored to meet the needs of industry professionals – in music and film, digital media and more – the popular Media and Entertainment Law certificate focuses on important legal and business concepts relevant to the field, including intellectual property, contracts, and licensing for non-lawyers. USC Gould’s existing online Entertainment Law certificate has attracted professionals from NBCUniversal, Spotify, The Walt Disney Company and Sony Music Entertainment, along with those who seek to deepen their grasp of the industry and enhance their entertainment credentials.

The Media and Entertainment Law certificate was previously available only to online MSL students, LLM students, or JD students.

“We are thrilled to extend our Media and Entertainment Law certificate to our on-campus MSL and MDR students at USC Gould,” said Associate Dean of Graduate and International Programs Misa Shimotsu. “USC and Los Angeles are at the center of the entertainment industry, and our courses will be led by leaders and decision-makers who teach immediately applicable skills in entertainment law that can be utilized across a broad range of roles and organizations.”

The USC Gould School of Law is ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s top 20 law schools. For more information on degrees and certificates, including our On-Campus Media and Entertainment Law certificate, contact the USC Gould School of Law Graduate and International Programs office at msl@law.usc.edu or 213-821-5916.
