New features @ law.usc.edu

Revamped web site provides new features specifically for students

August 18, 2006 By USC Gould School of Law

USC Law this summer launched a revamped web site that provides a number of new features designed specifically for students.

All students may log into the web site to access a portal home page that provides a starting point for viewing all the essential news, announcements, events and class assignments for students posted throughout the site. The log-in requires a user ID, which is the first part of a student’s e-mail address (in front of @usc.edu) and a password, which is a student’s 10-digit ID with no dashes.

Once logged in to the portal, students can access news feeds, postings from Student Connections newsletter, and the following new password-protected areas:

Student Directory / Facebook: Online for the first time, the Facebook is a listing of all USC Law students, their photos, e-mail addresses and undergraduate institutes. The directory can be filtered to view all students, a particular class, or even a course section.

Assignments Listing: Download class assignments, syllabi or course descriptions from professors. The files are available in .pdf, .doc, or .wpd format.

Book Buy/Sell: Includes postings of course reading materials available for purchase, as well as books being sought by other students. Click on “Sell/Need A Book” to add a posting.

Event Calendar: Click here to view what’s happening at USC Law throughout the entire academic year. The day’s events automatically display or can be viewed by month, by category (such as “Career Events”), or by using the search function. Click on a day or a specific event for more information, including time and location. Student groups should submit all law school events to this calendar.

Wireless Signup: Sign up for a session to set up a wireless laptop computer to use the USC network. Jane Chang, assistant director of student computing services, will direct sessions from Aug. 22 through Aug. 31.
