The LLM in Business Law degree gives students the fundamental knowledge and tools needed to successfully navigate the complexities of advising businesses.

As a student earning the LLM in Business Law degree, you will explore a broad range of relevant business law issues, and will learn about the diverse legal, business and negotiation skills necessary to succeed in this field. You will receive training in negotiating and facilitating transactions, gain exposure to trending issues relevant to business advising, such as advising startup companies and venture capital firms, and understanding core issues such as taxation and bankruptcy.

The LLM in Business Law is a 24-unit degree program offered on campus on a full-time basis, with enrollment in the fall and spring semesters. This LLM is open to anyone with a law degree (JD, LLB or equivalent).

  • Apply legal concepts and strategic thinking to business problems.
  • Identify the most common forms of business associations, including corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies.
  • Analyze relevant legal issues to interpret and apply statutes and case law in the area of business associations and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of standard business and legal terminology, as well as intellectual property.
  • Negotiate and draft key documents used in business transactions.
