John Connor Raney is a partner of MCLLP. Prior to joining MCLLP, he practiced for three years with the M&A group of O’Melveny & Myers LLP and, before that, for seven years with the with the M&A group of Latham & Watkins LLP. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and general corporate and securities matters. He represents private equity firms and their portfolio companies as well as public and private companies on a broad range of complex M&A transactions.

Raney earned a BA degree with honors from Boston College. He earned his JD degree from the UCLA School of Law where he graduated Order of the Coif. Raney is licensed to practice law in the State of California.

Jody Armour spoke on a panel hosted by the reform group Neighborhood Forward about the unintended consequences of a proposed menthol cigarette ban in California. "These kinds of bans and prohibitions only license the police to make more pre-text stops, and the Black community does not need more unjust interactions with police," he said.
