Brett Meyerhoff
Brett Meyerhoff is a co-instructor for LAW 874: Advanced Supreme Court Advocacy, which will be taught during the Spring 2023 semester. Meyerhoff is an associate in the Los Angeles office of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is a part of the firm’s litigation group. As a member of McDermott, Meyerhoff represents clients at both the trial and appellate level. His cases have covered many areas of law, including antitrust exclusive dealing and monopolization, trade secret misappropriation and constitutional criminal procedure.
At the trial level, Meyerhoff has won numerous dispositive motions, second-chaired a bench trial, and successfully defended clients in both state and federal court. At the appellate level, Meyerhoff has filed briefs and petitions with the U.S. Supreme Court and state courts of appeals, and successfully argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Meyerhoff also maintains a very active pro bono practice and participates in the firm’s Pro Bono & Community Service committee. His pro bono practice includes the representation of individuals in immigration proceedings before the Board of Immigration Appeals and federal appellate courts.
Meyerhoff previously served as a law clerk to the Hon. Johnnie B. Rawlinson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. During his clerkship, Meyerhoff had the opportunity to assist the Court with the resolution of approximately 50 cases and assisted with the drafting of 15 opinions and memorandum dispositions.
Meyerhoff received his BA, summa cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine, and his JD from the UCLA School of Law.
