Classmates gather before upcoming exams

Members of the 2L class gathered for lunch on the south lawn Nov. 12, enjoying the summer weather and each other’s company. Class president Jameil Johnson (right) put the event together as a way for classmates to take a collective break before everyone focuses on upcoming final exams.
The midday event included an extensive raffle — if you attended, odds were good that you would win something — with restaurant gift certificates, USC clothing and other school merchandise. SBA President Aly Parker drew names for the raffle. When Johnson’s name was among the first chosen, Parker proclaimed the system rigged.
Kidding…of course.
During the event, students also collected much-needed items for the Downtown Women's Center, a nonprofit organization that provides meals, housing and other assistance to homeless and very-low-income women.
Johnson says he is planning two more events next semester.
