Class Gift Encourages Connection, Student Orgs
by Darren Schenck

For students participating in the 3L Class Gift program, a pledge represents more than a commitment to support USC Law in the future: it is a vote of confidence in their own futures and the education they have received. Through the end of April, 3L Class Gift leaders Laura Riley ’10, Lauren Fendrick ’10 and Steffi Gascon ’10 are asking their classmates to make a pledge to give back to the law school beginning a year after graduation.

3L Class Gift information sessions will be held on March 1 and April 5 in conjunction with Bar Prep workshops. Students can make a pledge of any size, and they can fulfill it by making one contribution a year for four years, beginning in June 2011.

“I think it’s important that we stay connected with the law school and get in the habit of giving back,” says Riley. “Small contributions a year or two from now will mean a lot to the law school and help us stay in touch with professors and programs we care about.”

Riley emphasizes that students can pledge to support programs of their choice.

“You can direct your gift to a specific fund, including a student organization,” she says.

Progress on the Class Gift campaign will be announced at the 3L Gala, which will be held at The Standard in downtown Los Angeles in April.

To make a pledge in support of the 3L Class Gift, contact any of the student leaders, or make a pledge online. You may also contact Brooke Duebler at 213.743.1833 or [email protected]. For more information on the class gift program, visit http://law.usc.edu/3LClassGift.
