Judge Emilie H. Elias '70
Los Angeles Superior Court Justice Emilie H. Elias ’70 and U.S. District Court for the Central District of California Magistrate Judge Jacqueline Chooljian ’86 will swear in graduates who passed the July 2006 California Bar Examination.

Friends and family of the prospective attorneys are invited to attend. At the conclusion of the ceremony, USC Law will process the new attorneys’ paperwork for admission to each bar. This will take place at Town & Gown – next to the law school – where graduates and guests are invited to a reception. Light refreshments will be served.

Judge Elias has been a bench officer on the L.A. Superior Court for more than 17 years and in 2000 was appointed as a judge by Gov. Gray Davis. Since 2005, she has been assigned to the Complex Civil Panel. Judge Elias received her J.D. in 1970 from USC Law, where she served as an associate editor of the Southern California Law Review. She has taught at Loyola Law School, the California Judicial College and New Judge Orientation, and serves as a regular faculty member at the Continuing Judicial Studies Program, where she teaches civil law.

Judge Jacqueline Chooljian '86
Judge Chooljian was appointed in January 2006 to an eight-year term as magistrate judge. She previously worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Special Counsel to the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California. While a student at USC Law, she served as editor in chief of the Southern California Law Review. Following law school Judge Chooljian clerked for the Honorable Alicemarie H. Stotler '67, currently chief judge of the Central District of California, and was an associate at the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

To attend the ceremony, please RSVP by Dec. 1 to USC Law Development & Graduate Relations via e-mail or at (213) 740-6143.
