Annual PILF Auction is January 25

“PILF is a student-run, non-profit organization that awards grants to USC Law students working at public interest agencies over the summer, and all proceeds from the event go towards this effort,” said Kelley Lowe ’14, PILF’s 2013 auction chair.

The A Night of Masquerade themed event will be held on Friday evening, January 25th at Elevate Lounge in Los Angeles. The festivities begin at 7pm. Andrea Rosenkranz and Kelley Lowe, PILF’s Fundraising chair and Auction chair, along with current PILF members, helped organize the event.

 

Lowe expects over three hundred people, including law students, faculty, administrators, and alumni to attend. All attendees are encouraged to bid on auction items.

 

Whether you are a sports fan, avid traveler, or art enthusiast, there is an auction prize for everyone. Auction items include Los Angeles Lakers tickets, a basketball autographed by Lakers basketball star Dwight Howard, Los Angeles Dodgers tickets, a three day/two night trip to Miami, dinners with law school faculty, and tickets to various local museums.

 

All proceeds go directly towards financial grants that enable Gould students to serve the community through public interest projects during the summer. Through these projects, students use their legal education to work on behalf of the homeless, neglected children, and others without access to legal representation.

 

Previous auctions have proven very successful. The funds raised from the 2012 auction made it possible for PILF to help “provide over 25 students with grants to work in unpaid, full-time public interest positions during the summer [and] this year, we hope to offer even more,” said Lowe.

 

General admission tickets cost $40, and cost $30 for students who purchase tickets by January 18th.
