Greene honored for demonstrating excellence in bankruptcy law

Anthony L. Greene ’14 has been awarded the 2014 American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence for demonstrating excellence in bankruptcy law.

Greene, who is currently clerking for The Hon. Catherine E. Bauer, U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Santa Ana, Ca., was honored for his performance in Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring course, and for his Directed Research Project at USC Gould.

USC Gould Prof. George Webster nominated Greene for the award. "Anthony was an extraordinary student, with a deep interest in and a tremendous grasp of the field. I am very pleased, but not at all surprised,  that he was awarded the American Bankruptcy Institute 2014 Medal of Excellence in Bankruptcy," Webster said.

Greene said his work with Prof. Webster was one of the highlights of his law school career. " Professor Webster has served as both an intellectual guide and as a source of inspiration as I embark on my professional career. Having the chance to learn learn from such well-reputed practitioners as Gould's adjunct faculty provides the kind of context on contemporary legal issues that allow graduates to hit the ground running when they begin practicing. I consider this award not only an honor, but a testament to the exceptional faculty at the Gould School of Law."

The American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) is the largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency and one of the leading national organizations of the bankruptcy bar. Through the annual mendal of excellence, ABI honors top law students from across the country, recognizing their academic achievements in the field. Law students with the highest grade in a bankruptcy courses or those showing the greatest promise in bankruptcy practice are nominated by law professors, deans and others.
