The sweet smell of cupcakes and chocolate mousse filled the USC Gould School of Law lobby during the annual Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) bake sale.

Just in time for Halloween, students were encouraged to submit their tastiest treats to raise money for the organization, which offers approximately 25 annual summer grants to first and second-year students for work at public interest agencies.

“Because of PILF, students are able to put their skills to good use outside of the classroom without the financial burden. It is a very gratifying experience,” Rebecca Lee, President of USC’s PILF said.

Due to PILF’s efforts, USC students have obtained legal relief for the homeless, abused children, low-income working families, undocumented immigrants and refugees and many other vulnerable populations.

From the $550 raised at the event, 25 percent will go toward the Government Law Organization (GLO), which provides USC students with resources and perspectives regarding potential legal careers in government service.

The event was a success, raising $120 more than last year’s event, which raised $430.
