Grad hosts judges’ forum

Judge Dickran Tevrizian ’65 addressed legal issues relevant to the Armenian American community at a Federal Judges’ Forum at USC

on Aug. 13. Presented by the USC Institute of Armenian Studies and the Armenian Bar Association, more than 150 attorneys, students and community members attended the event.

Tevrizian, Senior Federal District Court Judge, moderated the panel that included the Honorable Samuel Der-Yeghiayan, Federal Judge, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois; the Honorable Jacqueline Chooljian, U.S. Magistrate Judge, Central District of California; the Honorable Zaven V. Sinanian, Judge, Los Angeles Superior Court; the Honorable Alice E. Altoon, Judge, Los Angeles Superior Court; and the Honorable Ronald M. Sohigian, Judge, Los Angeles Superior Court.

Judges panelThe panel discussed several major concerns of the Armenian community, including immigration, gangs, elder abuse, ethnic assimilation and careers in the legal profession.
