“Held Against My Will: Mental Illness, Consent and the Law, Monday

Law enforcement, legal experts and mental health professionals discuss involuntary commitment and forced treatment

WHAT: The Saks Institute for Mental Health Law, Policy, and Ethics at USC Law is hosting the one-day conference, “Held Against My Will: Mental Illness, Consent and the Law.” The event will feature three sessions and offer solutions from professors, people who have mental illness, community liaisons and director of programs.

WHEN: The event takes place Monday, April 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

WHO: Keynote speaker is Dr. Elinore F. McCance-Katz, assistant secretary for mental health and substance use. She will join 14 other presenters.

The forum will begin with some opening remarks from Elyn Saks, director of the Saks Institute for Mental Health Law, Policy, and Ethics.
