The USC Law community enjoyed a night of casino games and silent and live auctions at the 2011 Public Interest Law Foundation’s (PILF) annual auction. The 21st annual event raised almost $24,000 for summer grants for law students while entertaining approximately 400 guests.
“We are thrilled with the amount of money we raised and hope to fund many student grants this summer,” said PILF President Anna Lee ’12.
The auction’s theme, “21,” provided a setting for guests to play black jack, roulette and craps. The venue for this year’s event was the ballroom at the new Ronald Tutor Center on the USC campus. Dean Robert Rasmussen and Professor Jody Armour shared the Master of Ceremony duties.
“The event was a great success and many students, faculty and alumni came out to have a good time and demonstrate their support for public interest law,” said Valerie Gerard, ’12, PILF’s Fundraising Chair.
PILF grant recipients work for non-profit organizations and government agencies. Past recipients have worked throughout the state, country, and other countries, providing legal assistance to individuals and communities that are unable to afford legal representation.
The recipients of this year’s grants will be announced in April.
