The USC Gould School of Law is expanding its pipeline initiatives for future law students with the launch of the ASCEND Pre-Law Summer Institute, a premier program designed to inspire and equip the next generation of legal professionals. This unique program is the only fully-funded residential summer institute on the West Coast offering college students an unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of legal practice and law school preparation.
In partnership with the USC Neighborhood Academic Initiative and USC TRiO, the three-week program is open to rising college sophomores, juniors and seniors. It also covers room and board expenses for all admitted participants, thanks in large part to financial support from the Rosalie and Harold Rae Brown Charitable Foundation.
“This immersive program will give future law students a comprehensive look at how to apply to law school, as well as an in-depth look at the tools necessary to succeed at a top institution like USC Gould,” said David Kirschner, associate dean of admissions, financial aid, and innovation at USC Gould. “We are proud to offer this program, which helps expand access to legal education and gives outstanding students the foundation to be exceptional applicants, no matter where they attend law school.”
Participants will have access to personalized support and guidance during the summer institute, as well as throughout their law school application process. Benefits include professional LSAT test preparation with 7Sage; a stipend toward LSAT registration expenses; opportunities to connect with mentors in the Los Angeles legal community, USC Gould alumni and current students; and visits to local law firms, federal, state and local courts, and public interest law organizations.
