LOS ANGELES--The University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law is expanding its on-campus Master of Studies in Law (MSL) and Master of Dispute Resolution (MDR) degrees to include a Human Resources Law and Compliance certificate.

Legal knowledge is essential for HR managers, enabling them to effectively protect the rights of their employees while ensuring their organizations remain compliant. With immediately applicable knowledge of employment law, graduates gain a strong understanding of issues that span discrimination, compensation, accountability, performance and more — and impact their organizations by making informed decisions, backed by the relevant laws that support their work.

The 12-unit Human Resources Law and Compliance certificate prepares graduates to lead in various aspects of law related to employment. The program is ideal for professionals who work for large organizations and who deal with employment issues; HR managers who handle negotiations; compliance managers who navigate risk management involving employees; and other practitioners across the human resources field.

“We are excited to expand our very popular – and highly sought-after – Human Resources Law and Compliance certificate with this new, on-campus program at USC Gould,” said Associate Dean of Graduate and International Programs Misa Shimotsu. “With its practice-focused curriculum, students are able to deepen their understanding of the laws, regulations and legal concepts related to HR roles and responsibilities.”

The USC Gould School of Law is ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s top 20 law schools.
