Bid on great items at the annual PILF Auction -- Story by Maria Iacobo Would you enjoy a three night stay (including a round of golf) at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa?  That treat can be yours (and your guest) if you bid on it at this year’s 20th annual Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) auction. There are several other items that offer some rest and relaxation:  a three night stay (for two) in the presidential suite at a beachfront resort in Rocky Point, Mexico; private yoga lessons and private surfing lessons. “We're incredibly excited about the amazing items that we're auctioning off this year,” says Azita Mirzaian, an auction co-chair. The annual PILF Auction is the organization’s premiere event allowing the greater Los Angeles and USC communities to socialize at a fun gala event and contribute money to a great cause:  advancing the educational interests of students while fostering an ethic of public service. Other auction items include:  a pair of Pittsburgh Steelers game tickets; an evening of wine tasting for six students at the home of Dean Rasmussen and Professor Brown; and, a champagne cruise on a 40-foot yacht for four students with Professor Gross and her family. All proceeds from the event will fund summer grants for law students working in public interest opportunities this summer. PILF hopes to raise enough money to fund 27 students to work in a public interest position this summer. This year’s auction theme is “Gatsby Gives Back” and will be held at Union Station on Saturday, February 27 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.  Tickets are $30; $20 for students, in advance, and $25 at the door.  Ticket prices include two drinks and unlimited hors d’oeuvres.
