Emerging technologies are changing the way we live, work, and analyze the law. Legal implications are everywhere – especially when it comes to Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain.
Venture capital firms, entrepreneurs, Fortune 500 enterprises, and governments have taken note of these transformative technologies. Despite technological innovation, legal concerns persist particularly involving cryptocurrencies and their potential illicit use for money laundering and funding sanctioned regimes and actors. Intellectual property questions around AI also persist and challenge how corporate counsel and legal advisors interact with clients and provide guidance. Meanwhile, federal and state regulators have not adopted specific rules, and instead have sought to apply existing regulation to these new technologies.
While this is not a technology course, we will explore some of the fundamental tenets of the tech, its current real-world applications, legal structures and challenges, and potential future applications.
