Artificial Intelligence in Litigation and Dispute Resolution LAW-790

This course examines the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on litigation and conflict resolution, with a focus on practical skills and strategic application. Students will engage directly with AI tools used in modern legal practice, including those applied to case analysis, discovery, motion practice, evidence evaluation, expert testimony, negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and adjudication.

The course emphasizes how AI is reshaping dispute strategy, accelerating case timelines, altering settlement dynamics, and raising novel evidentiary, procedural, and ethical issues. Students will develop hands-on competency in using AI to analyze disputes, generate litigation work product, assess risk, and design resolution strategies.

The course will also critically examine emerging issues such as AI-generated evidence, reliability and admissibility of AI-assisted analysis, algorithmic bias, transparency, and professional responsibility obligations in an AI-enabled legal environment.
