This course will examine the current state of Name, Image and Likeness (“NIL”) in college athletics, including the legal basis for college athletes’ ability to secure representation and enter into paid collective agreements, whether college athletes should be considered employees and whether athletic departments will be able to pay athletes directly. We will also look at college sports and the impact of NIL through various lenses, including higher education, athletic departments, athletes, their representatives, and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
