This survey course is an introduction to the legal principles and practices involved in private business transactions that are international in character (i.e., the parties have their places of business in different nation-states or the transactions involve the movement of goods, services, capital, knowledge or technology across the boundaries of different nations). Included among the areas covered will be (1) import-export transactions, (2) licensing and distribution arrangements, and (3) foreign-direct investments. The course is intended to provide a broad overview for those planning to engage in general commercial practice, as well as a foundation for further study for those planning to specialize in the field of international business transactions.
