Students and alumni are invited to sign up for next weekend’s Fourth Annual Softball Tournament, hosted by the Student Bar Association.

Softball Tournament 2006Teams of alumni, 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls and LL.M.s will compete for the trophy at Cromwell Field on the USC University Park Campus on Saturday, Feb. 24. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. Family members are encouraged to attend.

The Class of 2007 is looking for its first victory in the tournament, said 3L Yem Mai, SBA president and tournament coordinator. Last year, two alumni teams played in the final game. The defending champions, the Class of 2005, lost to a team of pre-2005 alumni.

"I'm looking forward to the competition and hope this year we finally beat the alums,” Mai said. “There will be lots of food and beverages, and it'll be a really good time."

Participation is free, and all players will receive a team T-shirt and baseball cap, provided by the SBA. Players should bring their own equipment, but cleats are not allowed on the field.

Students may sign up for the tournament until Wednesday, Feb. 21. Below is a list of team captains for each class:

1Ls: Alicia Macklin or Jonathan Schaefler
2Ls: Gabe Spooner
3Ls: Matt Strabone
LLMs: Masahisa Mitsunaga
