After the speech, the group of USC Law students met with Lavrov.
“The event was very interactive – many audience members posed challenging questions to the foreign minister, especially regarding Russia’s stance on negotiations over the Iranian nuclear program” said 2L Josh Lockman, president of the International Relations Organization.
Jesper Johansen, an LLM student from Denmark added: “It was interesting to hear Lavrov arguing for negotiations with Hamas while defending Russian military actions in Chechnya.”
The International Relations Organization, which was recently founded, plans to host high-profile speakers at the law school to discuss issues relating to international affairs and the law.
“We also hope that students will attend events at the L.A. World Affairs Council, which is the premier speaking forum on international affairs in Los Angeles,” Lockman said.
