New Student Welcome Party '08Dean Robert Rasmussen threw a Caribbean-themed welcome party for all new USC Law students Sept. 17, complete with reggae music, jerk chicken and rum punch.

Nearly 300 students joined Rasmussen in USC’s Alumni Park for the annual fete that lets students, the dean, faculty and staff get better acquainted in a casual setting.

First-year J.D. students, as well as students enrolled in Graduate and International Programs, were invited. This year’s 100 new G&IP students come from 24 countries, including China, Brazil, Korea, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Thailand. Following the year-long Master of Laws (LL.M.) or Master of Comparative Law (M.C.L.) programs, most will return to their home countries, where they have careers in law, business and government.

Also joining the law school this fall are two study abroad students from the University of Hong Kong.
