Two alumni teams battled for the championship in the final game of the Student Bar Association softball tournament on March 25. A team consisting of non-2005 graduates edged out its opponent, a team of 2005 alumni, to take home the trophy.

The championship round capped off a day of 10 games played by six teams at McAllister Women's Soccer Field, according to Yem Mai, SBA vice president and tournament coordinator. Also competing were 1L, 2L and 3L teams, plus, for the first time in tournament history, an LL.M. team.

Softball TournamentMore than 100 people participated in the third annual tournament while friends family and faculty members, including Dean Matthew L. Spitzer, attended and cheered from the sidelines. Off the diamond, participants and guests enjoyed a barbecue and beer.

Softball Tournament 2006“People were having a good time all day long — drinking and eating and playing,” said Mai, who fully expects the softball tournament will continue as a USC Law tradition. “The alumni were probably the most into the tournament and were the most competitive.”

Finishing behind the two alumni groups were the 1L and 3L teams, which advanced to the semi-finals. Each team played two games in the first three rounds of the tournament.

All participants received T-shirts provided by the SBA. The tournament was a free event designed to encourage all members of the law school community to connect in an informal setting.
