Business Titan Charles Munger to Deliver Address
WHAT: USC Gould School of Law Class of 2007 graduation ceremony.
WHEN: Sunday, May 13. The processional march begins at 11 a.m.
WHO: Charles Munger, vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., will present the keynote address. He will discuss his business philosophy and secrets to success. A graduate of Harvard Law School, Munger, 83, is the business partner of Warren E. Buffett and major contributor to Berkshire Hathaway’s legendary performance record. This marks Munger’s first law school commencement address. Munger, 84, is listed by Forbes as one of the 400 richest people in the United States.
More than 190 students will receive juris doctorate degrees during commencement proceedings. Law Professor Elizabeth Garrett, university vice president for academic planning and budget, will confer degrees on behalf of the university.
Additionally, 90 students will receive master of law degrees and three students will receive master of comparative law degrees. These foreign law graduates are associates at leading law firms, employed as corporate legal counsel and as business professionals in top companies worldwide and work for the governments and ministries of their home countries. They come from 19 different countries.
WHERE: On the steps of the Von Kleinsmid Center (VKC). The reception will follow in nearby Alumni Park on the USC University Park Campus. Enter Gate 3 from South Figueroa Street (between Jefferson and Exposition boulevards) at USC McCarthy Way. Parking is free upon presentation of press credentials.
