Health advocacy is crucial to both individual and societal justice and every attorney is well situated to be an effective and powerful health advocate. Advocacy, at its core, is a means of seeking change. The goals can be to address inequity and disparities or to promote human rights and social justice; the common thread is that effective advocacy requires organization and represents a set of strategic and deliberate actions that serve, based on demonstrated evidence, to directly and indirectly influence decision-makers, stakeholders, and relevant audiences. In this course, we will explore ways in which you can serve as advocates for justice in health care at both the individual and societal levels.
