Ninth Circuit Senior Judge and former USC Gould Dean Dorothy W. Nelson received the USC Gould 125th Anniversary Luminary Award on March 31, in honor of her groundbreaking record of leadership and service — which includes becoming the nation’s first woman dean of an ABA-accredited law school, as well as pioneering mediation and arbitration education in the 1950s.

The award inscription reads: “In recognition of her leadership, service and courage, in lighting new paths for others.”
