The Career Services Office, as part of USC Gould's Judicial Clerkship Committee, supports students interested in applying for clerkships by providing the most current information about courts to which they are applying, connecting students with prior clerks, guiding applicants through the application process, and preparing candidates for their interviews. More information can be found at the Judicial Clerkship website on the MyLaw Portal.
USC Gould hosts the following annual clerkship events:
- 1L Clerkship Reception: Creates an opportunity for all first-year students to learn about the benefits of clerkships. Students engage with Gould alumni who have clerked and are currently working at various area law firms. Hosted by the Board of Councilors' Clerkship Committee and sponsored by law firms.
- Turrentine Reception: Recognizes students who have secured clerkships. Past Keynote speakers include the Honorable Andre Birotte, Jr. and the Honorable Philip S. Gutierrez, of the Central District of California.
- Dean-hosted sessions: Clerkship applicants meet with the Dean in a small and informal setting over coffee or lunch.
- Clerkship Diversity Initiative: Promotes increased diversity in the judiciary by connecting under-represented student applicants with federal judges.
- Jurist-in-Residence Program: Brings prominent judges from across the U.S. to Gould to share their insights and expertise.
- Clerkship Bootcamp: Prepares graduating students for their fall clerkships. Instruction provided by USC faculty, members of the Federal Bench, and former USC law clerks.
