Business Law Advisor (Spring 2017)

  • Course Number: LAW-550
  • Class Number: 03190
  • Instructor: Scott Malzahn

Course Description

The Business Law Advisor (BLA or the Advisor) is a student-run publication that publishes advisory articles relevant to the intersection of business and law. Articles span topics from M&A and securities law to Real Estate, IP, and startup company law (to learn more, visit our website and read some of the articles written by USC Law graduates).

Unlike traditional law school journals, the Advisor produces concise articles about modern developments in business law. Our focus is brevity and relevance.  Authors are expected to carefully research their topics and to footnote all sentences that rely on a given source. Due to the novel nature of advisory topics, the average article has roughly fifty citations and focuses more on analysis, as opposed to law review articles that usually contain several hundred. The Advisor offers students exposure and training to something they will likely encounter in practice.

Authors and Editors may participate in BLA even if they participate in one of USC’s Honors Programs (i.e., Hale Moot Court, Southern Cal Law Review, ILJ, or RLSJ).
