Course Description

This course is designed to serve as a very practical guide to wills and trusts.  In particular the course will explore fundamental rules relating to the execution, interpretation and revocation of wills.  Coverage will also include the consequences of intestacy.  Alternative methods of estate planning will be examined, too, with a particular focus on trusts and their administration including trust formation and the powers and duties of trustees as well as the rights of beneficiaries.   The relative advantages and disadvantages of wills and trusts will be considered.  Ethical issues arising from representing clients in this arena will be examined as will the importance of skillful drafting.
