  • Course Number: LAW-708
  • Class Number: 04080
  • Instructor: Robert Webster

Course Description

From the negotiating table to drafting the deal, this course is designed to highlight the lawyer’s role as dealmaker.  The course helps students develop greater insight into the lawyer’s role in identifying and understanding the client’s needs and ambitions, and, thereafter, pursuing the appropriate negotiating strategy to achieve those goals, ultimately structuring an agreement that reflects the client’s objectives.  The course will also underline the importance of the contemporary lawyer’s need to be intimately in tune with the business world and its trends and developments.  Students will follow a classroom project that charts the course of a deal from initial talks to contractual conclusion, practicing their bargaining and drafting skills as they guide the client through the deal-making process.
